Hair color: a very serious matter. As every fashionista knows, the right or wrong hue can make or break a girl’s allure and confidence. Enter Andreas Kurkowitz Colouring Studio, the first salon – in the buzzing German capital, Berlin – focused on hair color.

Hidden in a courtyard of the hip area of Mitte, the space is the brainchild of Andreas Kurkowitz, one of the most sought-after colorists in the fashion world and the Global Colour Ambassador of Wella Professionals. In his studio, the man behind the look of some of the most recognizable models of today has brought the experience accumulated backstage at shows for Acne, Vetements, Balenciaga or Louis Vuitton, and on photo shoots for Italian, French, or British Vogue.

But don’t expect him to style you following the latest trends. His philosophy favors soft shades and undone hairdos created to “enhance what is already there.” Each look is created considering hair and skin color, but also the personality and lifestyle of the client. “It’s different, if I’m working on a Vetements or a Chanel woman, a rock-star or a housewife” says Andreas, whose inspiration stems from art, music, and his travels around the world.

A session in his studio feels like a visit to the home of a cool friend. The vibe is international, the mood relaxed: clients and stylists mingle around a communal table, sipping tea in a cozy atmosphere. Like an exclusive agency, Andreas’s team is a pool of talents from around the globe, working internationally, for a constant flow of fresh inspiration. Color is realized with free hand, balayage, and with foil. “I use less color, but it needs to be in the right place,” says Andreas. “Unless the client wants a statement color, worn like an accessory”. Personalized hair cutting, and hair care using high-end brands complete the styling. The result? A very special glow, that will make your friends wonder if you’ve just gotten back from an exotic holiday. That’s what the right hair color can do for you.
